Apex court refuses bail to Manu Sharma

The Supreme Court Monday refused bail to Manu Sharma, undergoing life term for killing ramp model Jessica Lall in April 1999.

A bench of Justices C.K. Thakkar and D.K. Jain dismissed the bail plea saying that Sharma was a convict in a heinous murder case.

This is the second time that the court has refused bail to Sharma, son of former Haryana minister Venod Sharma, who is in the capital's Tihar Jail. His bail plea had earlier been denied on Nov 27 last year.

Jessica Lall was shot dead at a south Delhi restaurant on the night of April 29-30, 1999. Sharma had opened fire on her for refusing to serve him a drink.
