Poor boycott polio vaccine -- over kerosene

India's News.Net
Saturday 22nd November, 2008 (IANS)

Parents of over 100 infants in Bihar's Samastipur district have boycotted a polio vaccination drive in protest against the non-supply of subsidised kerosene to them for six months.

A district official said the boycott took place in the Jitvapur-Vishnupur and Sindghiya Khurd villages, 100 km from Patna.

'We have been fighting for survival after kerosene due to us was not provided. We refused to let our children be administered polio vaccine to draw the administration's attention to our plight,' said a villager, Ramesh Ram.
