India's News.Net

Even in the economic doldrums, luxury cars are still selling well in the US.

The Detroit auto show has shown off the world’s high-end brands such as Bentley, Maserati, Lamborghini, Jaguar, Maybach and Rolls Royce

The new Mercedes SLR, which will go on sale this year, will be reserved for owners of previous SLR models who are willing to pay US$300,000.

Jaguar, now owned by India's Tata, announced it had sold 65,000 cars priced between 30,000 dollars and 60,000 dollars in 2008.

Even the niche market Lamborghini sold 2,430 cars in 2008; up six percent.
