Insurgent shot dead in Manipur

A terrorist was shot dead in a gun fight with security forces in Manipur's Imphal West district Wednesday, police here said.
'A group of unidentified separatists fired at the combined security forces (police and army) who were patrolling in Wangoi Maril area. The forces immediately retaliated, killing a rebel on the spot,' a police spokesman said.
The gun battle continued for about 20 minutes.
Later, the combined security forces, including soldiers from the Maratha Light Infantry, recovered the body of the terrorist who was killed.
In another incident, para-military Assam Rifles troopers gunned down seven separatists near village Sanapat in Imphal East district Sunday. Email this story to a friend
