DHAKA, Bangladesh - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina proposed a broad debate in Parliament on the occasion of Bangladesh's Golden Jubilee of Independence on Wednesday.
In her proposal, the House leader stated that the Golden Jubilee of Independence is a glorious chapter in Bangladesh's national life. The country continues to forward at an irresistible pace march. "Bangladesh is now a 'development surprise' in the world."
Darkness descended on the national life on August 15, 1975, during the adoption and implementation of several measures to rebuild the war-torn country, according to the prime minister.
She said that Bangladesh's first president, Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his family were brutally assassinated.
The trial of Bangabandhu's assassination was held after her government was formed in 1996. PM said that the prosecution of the war criminals was completed.
"Through the implementation of vision 2021, Bangladesh has gained recognition as a developing country coming out of the least developed country status." She added.
