CHIN STATE, Myanmar - According to resistance sources, at least five regime troops, including one officer, were killed in an attack on a Myanmar military base in Chin State's Falam Township on Wednesday.

Several anti-regime groups in the area attacked a hilltop base in Rihkhawdar, a town on Myanmar's border with India, before dawn on Wednesday.

According to a senior member of one of the groups involved, the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF), among the confirmed junta casualties was at least one army officer.

"I was told that an officer, Lt-Col Wai Myo Paing, was killed, but we don't know who the others were." "I obtained this information from a reliable military source," he explained.

Another group that took part in the attack, the Chinland Defence Force (Civil Defence Militia) Siyin, said four soldiers defected after surrendering to anti-junta forces.

"Four of them joined our side, but they didn't have their weapons," the spokesperson explained.

According to local sources, an artillery shell fired from another nearby base landed in a residential area, killing at least one civilian, Liang Thang Mang, and injuring two others.

After coming under fire from the other base, the resistance forces, who reported only one injury among their members, said they ended their attack and retreated.
